How can I get Band 7.5 overall in IELTS?
We received this question from a member in our private group on Facebook “IELTS writing and speaking support”; feel free to join. One of the examiners working for us answered this one.
The easiest way, it seems, is to get Band 8.0 in reading and listening and 7 in speaking and writing. If you are actively studying (i.e. going to an English school/academy) then you should have a good idea what level you are now. If not, do a practice reading and listening test. You can download one from the Cambridge website here
https://www.cambridgeenglish.org/exams-and-tests/ielts/preparation/
Then this will give you an idea of where you are with reading and listening. Band 8.0 is very high so if you are nowhere near it, you have some work to do and you will need to raise your level of General English.
Writing and speaking are more complicated. These are your production skills and a lot of people struggle with these, especially writing. If you want IELTS examiners to assess your writing and speaking then the only place that offers this is here at upmyielts.
You can do a Full IELTS writing exam and speaking test with us and find out where you are. We will also tell you what you need to do to get where you want to be.
7.5 is a high score so make sure you set yourself realistic goals and don’t book an IELTS test before you are regularly scoring 7.5 overall. There is no such thing as luck when it comes to IELTS but…… good luck.
