So, we got this email from someone who has started using our writing service where an IELTS writing examiner works with you on your writing (You can book it here if you are interested). His name is Suraj and he is from India.
“My individual score is Writing 5.5 but I need 7. What do I do?”
So, this person has done the exam and is a long way away from Band 7.0. Our first piece of advice to all of you in the same situation is do not book another exam. Einstein said it best!
IELTS is no different. If you got 5.5 last week, you will very likely get 5.5 this week. The only difference is that IELTS is that little bit richer as it has more of your money, and no one wants that.
What we recommended to Suraj was for him to do a full IELTS exam with us, which he did.
An IELTS examiner then gave him Band scores and showed him exactly what the issue was. This gave Suraj complete clarity and he knew what he had to work on to get to Band 7.0.
Suraj joined an English school near his home to improve his general level of English too. He continued doing a weekly full IELTS exam with us too.
After 3 months, he had gone from 5.5 in writing to scoring his first Band 7.0 essay with us. A huge jump. Suraj is still going to the English school and IELTS examiners are also working with him on his speaking too.
Suraj will get there.
We wanted to share his story (with his permission) because he has worked his a*** off to get to this position. It is possible, especially if you have IELTS examiners there with you showing you what you need to do to get the score you need.
We see a lot of poor advice out there when it comes to IELTS, so be like Suraj, learn from the best – IELTS examiners.
