This is a common question that we often get asked.  They get very high scores in listening and reading but lower scores in writing and speaking.  This is because you can’t self-study for these.  So, let’s look at what you should and shouldn’t do.

Well, now you know what you need to work on. Firstly though, you need to know why you got those marks.

To find this out, do a full writing test with us; both parts 1 and 2.  Our IELTS examiners will then show you where you are going wrong and what you need to do to get higher marks.  IELTS examiners will then assess your writing and show you why you got those scores and what you need to do to get Band 7+.  The problems highlighted by the examiners may also be affecting your speaking too but let’s go one step at a time.

Whatever you do, don’t book another test as you will just get the same scores again and that is no use to anyone. No one wants to see you lose money.  You may have some work ahead of you for your writing and speaking but if you need Band 7, then you are nearly there.
